“Hierbas Silvestres” is one of the finest yerbas you´ll find today. It has a medium intensity which makes it perfect for almost everyone. A clean, fresh and robust personality. Easy to fall in love with. Unsmoked type of yerba with stems (con palo).

-Remember each Yerba deserves a personal experience. What’s good for one mate drinker may not be the same for another. We encourage you to play around with this fun and healthy habit –

ORGANIC YERBA MATE CHARACTERISTICS

Production: This is an organic yerba mate. Organic teas have no pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. Also, they do not have artificial flavors or ingredients of any kind. The packaging material that is used with the organic teas is also organic, as the paper that is used is recycled and biodegradable and the ink is water based.

Origins: Produced by a small and independent producer in Misiones, the land of the Yerba Mate.

Aging: Usually the aging process for the organic teas are longer than the regular therefore the flavor and aroma is better. It also makes the yerba mate less acidic.

Writing a review about yerba maté is not an easy task, because there are so many variations in taste possible from a single brand, depending on temperature and steeping time, more so than with tea, my other drink of choice. So it takes a bit of time to experiment with each brand. One of the ones that I purchased from Alejandro was Hierbas Silvestres, and like all of the yerbas I purchased from his site, this is an excellent brand, and quite unusual in its flavor profile.

I think coffee drinkers could get into Hierbas Silvestre very easily, as it has a dark, roasted flavor even though it has been air dried. Moreover it is incredibly smooth, no matter what temperature you brew it at. For me, the coffee-like, chocolatey, malty flavor develops above 170°F, maybe best at 175°F. Unlike many Argentinian yerbas, this does not have any grassiness whatsoever, and to those who like Japanese or Korean barley tea (mugicha), this will be a congenial drink. For anyone looking for a full, roasted-like (but not roasted), smooth and palatable yerba, this is a great choice.
