On Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Hungarian tennis player Márton Fucsovics has gained attention for his passion for yerba mate.
The Mate-Loving hungarian tennis star during an interview with Argentine journalist Sofía Martínez on Argentine Public Television, Fucsovics shared his enthusiasm for this infusion and even showcased his mate tattoo.
“I love mate. I’ve been drinking it for three months, and I believe my life has changed because of it,” Fucsovics expressed. “It’s good for my mood, and it gives me a lot of confidence. I feel much better since I started drinking mate.”
The tennis player also mentioned that although mate isn’t very popular in Hungary, he has noticed several football players enjoying it, including Lionel Messi. “I know it’s not widely consumed in my country, but I’ve seen some football players drinking it. Lionel Messi drinks it, and it seems to work for them,” Fucsovics explained.
